Innovations and improvements in the itinerary of the Transpyr Backroads

  • 05/06/2017

This edition of  Transpyr Backroads is almost ready. The cycle sportive stage event that crosses the Pyrenees from East to West, presents an itinerary with few changes, in regards to the previous edition. Some variations have been done to improve the access or to make some part of the itinerary, more natural, other changes have been realized for renovations works and cut roads:

Stage 01: The start of the first stage will be done by the principal road that goes from Roses to Palau Saverdera, from there, we will go by the secondary roads “Camí de Pedret”. From Castelló d’Ampuries we will take again the original route that we already use last year.

Stage 05: The most important change in the 2017 itinerary of Transpyr Backroads. The renovations in “ el cañón Añisclo “ prevents us to pass by one of the most beautiful landscapes along the itinerary. The alternative we propose, will take the cyclists for a secondary road, a little more in the south. From Escalona, the cyclists will initiate a long and soft ascent, with some sections of descent, which will take them to Fanlo by la Collata de las Fuebas (1268 m).

Stage 07: We have changed the end of the last stage, especially looking for a more natural and safe route tot the finish line in of Hondarribia. To avoid the roads with more traffic, we will transit by France from the summit of  Lizarreta (km 105 km) to the population of Behobia (km 140). Approximately 35 km for a green landscape, typical of the Atlantic pre-Pyrenees and in constant up and down. The last 8 km of  the route will be by the roads of access to Hondarribia for which, on having been a Saturday, it is possible that we find enough traffic.
